Pechora

The old S-125 S.C. PECHORA system has been upgraded by Poland . In general the upgrade comprises:

· Introduction of modern digital technology to replace obsolete analogue components vulnerable to electronic jamming
· Placing the contracted command and control cabin along with antenna post onto a single mobile wheeledchassis equipped with outriggers and hydraulic system capable of speedy erecting and folding the antenna, and mounting the launchers onto comparatively cheap T-55 chassis to give the system a mobility and fast redeployment feasibility to avoid easy air attacks.
· Elaborating a test proved procedures to extend shelf life of missiles.

The upgraded S-125 S.C. PECHORA system underwent extensive trials including live firing and road tests, which fully proved its reliability and accuracy.
In 1999 the system was adopted in service and deployed with Polish Air Defence. With joining the NATO Alliance by Poland it became integrated into NATO air defences. Annually firing tests are being performed with presence of NATO inspectors.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE
· The upgraded S-125 SC PECHORA system enables firing at single and group air targets, as well as over-ground and over-aquatic targets, day and night in all weather and climatic conditions, either with or in absence of electronic interference and jamming (both natural and imposed).
· The system guarantees firing with missiles of 5B27Y (5W27U) and 5B27YK (5W27UK) types.
· The system guarantees firing with two missiles, to one target simultaneously, in 5 s intervals.
· Launching of the missiles in series can take place from 2 different launchers.
· The system is autonomous in the range of detection, identification and destruction of targets.
· The system features a high level of the automation of combat operation.
· The system is capable of operation in extremes of temperatures and climates.
· The system guarantees effective firing against non-manoeuvring and manoeuvring missiles (cruising, etc.), aircraft, helicopters or other flying objects on the parameter up to 18 km and angle of the slope from -20 to +720 .
