The PZL Anaconda helicopter is based on the PZL Sokół medium multi purpose transport helicopter. This version is used for search and rescue (SAR) missions over sea and land with a possibility to perform flight, both night and day under all climatic and weather conditions at altitudes up to 6.000 m ASL..
PZL Anaconda is equipped with inflatable floats attached around the fuselage for emergency ditching. The floats are inflated immediately defore ditching and keep the aircraft on the surface allowing the crew and passengers to safely leave the helicopter. The flight and navigation instrumentation of PZL Anaconda includes amongst other things, weather edar, GPS, HOMER system for searching and detection of survivors.
The crew of the helicopter consists of two pilots and two rescuers and physician. The number of survivors to be taken by the helicopter depends on equipment variant (stretchers, rafts) and may be up to 8 persons. The helicopter is also capable of transporting cargo on a sling up to 2.100 kg.
The helicopter is fitted out with the following mission equipment:
- electrical hoist for lifting people or loads of up to 272 kg at heights up to 50 meters with a rate of 0,75 m/s,
- external cargo sling for transport of slung loads of up to 2.100 kg,
- search light with in-flight white light/infrared selector system,
- inflatable life raft for 6 people,
- rescue belts, rescue basket for 2 persons or folding stretchers for hoisting survivors on board of the helicopter,
- rope ladder, portable oxygen equipment, electric blankets, vacuum flasks, etc.,
- equipment for marking the accident location on the sea (light and smoke buoys, light charges and charges staining water to mark and illuminate the accident area, radio buoys emitting radio signals, flare pistols, etc.).

The PZL Anaconda's equipment may be configured to the requirements of the customer.
