The BVP-1 (BMP-1) is a tracked amphibious Infantry Fighting Vehicle intended to equip mechanized infantry and tank sub-units, increase their mobility and protect personnel on the battle field from mass destruction weapons. The BMP-2 carries eleven infantrymen (including 3-man crew) and can engage various targets including tanks and combat helicopters. The infantrymen can deliver aimed fire through firing ports in troop and crew compartments. The vehicle is fitted with a 73 mm low-pressure gun, 7,62 mm coaxial and anti-tank guided missile system (9M14M Malyutka). The communication system includes UKF radio-set and intercom.
